    Peter David, even while dealing with medical issues, is Marvel's best writer for sure. If they put him on "ASM", that book would immediately be a top-seller again and we'd have some fun stories to read featuring our favorite web-head. Marvel will likely not do this, though. They hate to give fans what we want.

    I agree that FULL CIRCLE has been seriously undervalued, underpublicized and really ignored by Marvel, even though it is probably one of the top comic-related projects of the decade. Maybe we could get better product from Marvel if they allowed their characters to be leased out for such unique projects. Alex Ross certainly hit it out of the park with his incredible Lee/Kirby tribute!

    Peter David wrote Spectacular Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, X-Factor, Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man 2099, Aquaman, Supergirl, Young Justice, Captain Marvel, Wolverine, Sachs and Violens, and other series I have left out here. He started working for Carol Kalish in the Marvel sales department before breaking in and writing comics. He is one of the best and most consistent writers of the last 35 years. Note: He never has written a major top tier title in his career. No Batman, Amazing Spider-Man, Uncanny X-Men, or Justice League despite being that damn good and consistent and on time with his stories. WTF20.

    Maestro is in continuity in so far as it is a possibly future for the Hulk. That's why you have seen Maestro used in different ways since his inception as you can play with the future stories you use him in. Peter David wrote the character for over 10 years, I think he can be said to be the definitive Hulk writer of the late 20th century. He created Maestro so he certainly would be best person to craft the origin story for him. Go read Incredible Hulk Future Imperfect for the 1st appearance of the Maestro where he goes toe to toe against his past self who has been brought to the future to stop his evil despotic future self. Oh yeah some guy name GEORGE PEREZ does the artwork for it. WTF20.

    Thank you for your recommendations, i will give a try to "strange academy" even though i don't know if its my cup of tea. But i disagree with you on the number one spot: i read all three maestro miniseries when they came out and i found them underwhelming. The reveal of hercules was anticlimactic for me, and the pantheon wasn't a group of characters that i was invested in, and the writing didn't change my mind. I'm not saying that these comics are bad, just that i was expecting more after reading the Symbiote spiderman series.

    Peter David is still the man

  • @incubustimelord5947
    @incubustimelord5947 Месяц назад +1

    Peter David's best work is the Gray Hulk (Joe Fixit). His second best work was the Professor Hulk. The problem is that after the Incredible Hulk (Dr. Robert Bruce Banner) was evolved with enough character development, there was nothing further to say. The Hulk's story should've come to a close by the time it was the mid-'90s. Everything that came about afterwards was just contrived.
    I never liked the Future Imperfect story. The Maestro is just another crazy, evil, older, future self of Hulk from an alternate future timeline where he had killed off all of the other super-heroes and conquered the world, and now rules a dystopian, post-apocalyptic future world as a mad dictator. His character was rather mediocre though, kind of like Adam Warlock's crazy, evil, older future self called the Magus. Some of the other characters from that nuclear-ravaged late 21st century Earth were okay. Like "Gramps" (Rick Jones' older, future self who was a cyborg), and his great-great-granddaughter from his late wife Marlo Chandler, Janis Jones, who was a mutant born with the power to control her hair like Medusa from the Inhumans.
    They were members of the surviving freedom fighters who were trying to defeat the Maestro and save the surviving human race. But other than that, the sci-fi story just seemed redundant. Even with Janis Jones going back in time to try to alter history and change reality for what she felt was for the better by trying to assassinate the Hulk so that she could erase, and totally wipe the Maestro out of existence. And then the Maestro himself going back in time to try to stop her. It all just seemed so been there, done that.

    I was worried this was going to have Zdarsky Daredevil and McKay Moon Knight... Which are admittedly "good" in the context of neo -Marvel... But stacked against the iconic runs on the characters are passably mediocre at best... Or in my opinion not worth it for one of the first 250-300 Daredevil comics someone reads or 100ish Moon Knight issues (because there haven't been that many good runs, and the other only great one is the original Doug Moench Bill Sienkevics.)

    • @CoreyAdolfi
      @CoreyAdolfi Месяц назад

      With Daredevil, I’d say that the deck is stacked against Zdarsky’s run in contrast to the likes Frank Miller and Bendis (never thought I’d ever that out loud). Still a good, at times great, read but far from the best. I think an argument could be made for McKay’s Moon Knight but I’m not one to make it as I’m more partial to Warren Ellis’ run. Even still I’d definitely say it’s a great series.
